Setting up HSS with Canon 6D

Hiya,

I have a forest shoot tomorrow and would really like to use hss with off camera flash for this. (I usually only use this in the studio).  I have tried everything to get it set up but it just isn't working! Please could you advise how I go about doing this? Many thanks

  • Hello @Cat

Sorry for the delayed in replying.

Are you using the Cactus V6 II as a trigger? If so your RF60 needs to update to the latest firmware version.

Thank you and I look forward to your updates.

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "NIK.A.001", "v.103", or "A06".

TTL or HSS not working on Cactus V6 II and V6 IIs? Be sure to check hot shoe connectivity by doing the <CAMERA INFO> check.

I have a cactus V6 and RF60, but it is not working the HSS.

    How i can do it?

I need to use in sun day
  • The V6 does not support HSS and never will. It lacks the necessary hardware.

The only options are workarounds. You can use
    1. optical triggering of a V6 transmitter (in conjunction with a system flash that supports HSS), or
    2. the "starter pistol approach" I once came up with.

The only way is to get the V6 II.

Or get a leaf shutter camera such as the Fujifilm X100, Sony RX1, Ricoh GR...
