Compatibility matrix V6, V6 II, RF60

Dear,
I am curious what is compatible in terms of HSS (both modes Normal HSS and Power Sync) when you consider V6, V6 II, RF60, Supported flash unit eg. Metz 52.

  • Dear Tomas,

With firmware update, the RF60 supports both Normal HSS and Power Sync with Cactus V6 II. The firmware is ready to download in the DOWNLOADS page (http://www.cactus-image.com/downloads.html).

The V6 II supports HSS for Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax flashes. Metz 52 is supported for any of above flash system.

  • Dear Ray Chan,
    thank you for answer.
I found V6 is not support any HSS mode. It is described in Section 18.2 of V6II manual.
Will Cactus consider HSS Power Sync mode for V6 in next releases?
I am actually operating this Power Sync mode with my V6s (using delay 1ms, which sometimes is too long). So would be great if V6 has also Power Sync ADJ (instead of delay function)
I Need to know to consider before buying new product.
    Many thanks,
    Tomas

    Hello

V6II seems to be a good opportunity for my RF60s - but support of V6 Receivers by firmware update would be very much appreated

  • Dear Friend

I have the Panasonic DMW-FL360L Flash, which is the current model of flash from Panasonic for micro 4/3 cameras (replacing the previous FL360 flash, which is no longer available)

Is the Cactus V6 II compatible for TTL and HSS with the DMW-FL360L Flash?

    Many thanks
    -Basil
  • Dear Basil,

Rest assured! The Cactus V6 II is suitable for HSS with DMW-FL360L. In addition, we added Power Sync for the FL360L , which boosts flash contribution above x-sync shutter speed, perfect for extreme conditions where Normal HSS is not powerful enough.

V6II doesn't have wireless TTL. However, the V6II comes with TTL pass-through for on camera flash. That allows to use TTL when the flash is mounted on top of the V6II and on top of the camera.

    I hope that helps.

  • Will the Olympus FL-600R be supported too? Thanks.
  • Will the Olympus FL-600R be supported too? Thanks.
V6II supports all Olympus system flashes. Of cause, FL-600R is covered.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Ray,

can you confirm that the Metz 52 AF-1 for Pentax is supported by the V6II?

You indicate it is, but the V6II product page does not list it as being compatible.
  • Hi Ray,

You indicate it is, but the V6II product page does not list it as being compatible.
Due to the hardware limitation, the V6II cannot detect Metz flash for Pentax automatically. You probably need to use Manual Selection in the flash setup. Either Pentax (AUTO) or Metz flash profiles can work.

    I hope that helps.

  • Dear,
I need to repeat my question again.
Will Cactus consider Power Sync mode for V6 in next releases?
I am actually operating this Power Sync mode with my V6 (using delay 1ms, which sometimes is too long, less step should help). So would be great if V6 has also Power Sync ADJ (instead of delay function, step by 1ms)
    Thank you,
    Tomas
  • Will Cactus consider Power Sync mode for V6 in next releases?
Yes, we are working on the firmware for V6 to support Power Sync with V6II. Due to the hardware limitation of V6, it's not able to use read the camera shutter sync time. Only V6 II is capable to transmit sync time signal wireless to other RX. So, you will need a V6 II as TX to remotely control the V6 as RX in Power Sync mode.

    I hope that helps.

  • Hi I have a number of RF-60 speed lights. So my understanding is that to use HSS, I must do the following:

    1. Update the firmware
    2. Replace my Cactus v6 transmitter with a v6 II
    Is my understanding correct?

    Thanks

  • Will I be able to use HSS with a Panasonic G7/GH4 using a V6II and an RF60 flash, or will I also need to have a Panasonic flash?

Yes you can. The V6 II HSS supports cross-brand camera and flash system, including Panasonic. Shooting HSS with RF60 using V6II on the Panasonic camera works!

Also, Panasonic camera with V6II can shoot in HSS not only with Panasonic system flash, but also non-Panasonic flash , like Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Cactus RF60.

What about my Flashpoint speedlite I already have?

Which flash model do you have? In case you are using the TTL version, the V6 II is compatible with them.

    Cheers!

  • Is this going to compatible with the X- E2s?

  • Is this going to compatible with the X- E2s?
Hi @Garym5 we tested the X-E2 and unfortuantely it was a no-go. We suspect it to be a hardware thing.
On the other hand we haven't tried the X-E2s so we can't be sure.
I will ask around and see if anyone has one to test.

    Thank you.

  • Hi I didn't see any X-T10 in the compatible cameras...have you tried HSS with X-T10+V6II?
  • X-T10 is not a problem with the V6 II.
    It's only X-E2 that doen't work.

BTW, @pogzz505 we don't list out specific camera models as compatible. We only specifically point out those that we tested as not compatible in supporting HSS.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,
If I use a V6 II transmitter (on a Fuji xt-1 camera), I understand I will get HSS with my remote
Cactus RF-60 - but I also have two  remote  V6 receiver + Canon 550ex. Will I get HSS with them ?

I need to know whether to sell the V6+canon 550ex and replace with RF-60s

    Thanks
  • You won't get HSS with V6 receivers.

Cactus is planning a V6 firmware update that will make the V6 compatible with the V6II with respect to PowerSync, but there will never be HSS compatibility.
  • Thanks. Since power sync does not have adjustable power, and with Fuji X cameras there is an added step anyway, I think I need to simplify as much as possible - so RF60s are the way.
  • ... - so RF60s are the way.
    I was gonna suggest that!

    Thanks @Irj !

  • Antonio,  If I purchase a V6 ll and an RF-60 for use on my Panasonic FZ1000, if I mount the V6 ll on the panny hotshoe, and the RF-60 on the V6 ll, will the RF-60 function as a TTL flash even though it is only has a single pin on it's hot shoe mount?
  • ...will the RF-60 function as a TTL flash even though it is only has a single pin on it's hot shoe mount?
No, the RF60 is a manual flash.

With the single pin hot shoe, it can only receive a trigger signal and nothing else, meaning the only signal get passed through to it is a "FIRE!" signal.
You'll need the other contact pins on the flash to receive TTL information, which the RF60 lacks.

Dears, thank you for your answer, now it is clear. I have realized that not all supported flash support this  Power Sync feature. Any Panasonic and Olympus up to now. Is there any list of supported flashes? Road map would help a lot. Thank you, Tomáš
