SB400 compatibility

Good Afternoon,  I just bought a pair of Cactus V5s and can't get them to fire my Nikon SB400 flash.  Units seem to be working correctly and flash is ok, too.  Can anyone tell me if it's a compatibility issue?  Thanks.

    Did you set the SB-400 to M mode?

    There only a few flash models in the market that does not trigger flash via the centre hot shoe pin. Most Nikon units use the centre pin for flash triggering when in M mode.

    Thanks, Antonio.  Maybe my ignorance is showing but the only setting on my flash is "On" and "Off."  If you mean set the camera to manual mode, that didn't help, either.

    Wow, that's above and beyond!  Thanks.  Unfortunately, no luck.  I'm going to make sure the transceiver is functioning properly before I go any further with this.  I appreciate your efforts.
