Two problems: (1) V6 firmware update on Mac (2) TTL with Fuji XT1 and V6

(1) I have tried to update the firmware on my newly purchased V6. I have downloaded the firmware updated to my MacBook Air, connected the V6 via USB (having removed the batteries), and switched on the V6 (menu button plus either Tx or Rx). The red light starts blinking. The firmware updater screen 1.03 comes up but states there is no device connected. I cannot get it to recognise that there is a V6 connected.

(2) I have bought a V6 specifically because it is recommended as a good choice for Fujifilm X system cameras. I have a Fuji XT1 and a Fuji EF20 flash. I have mounted the V6 on the camera and the EF20 on the V6. I have swtched the V6 to TTL mode. When I take a picture the flash operates at full power but does not operate in TTL mode. So my pictures are completely over exposed. How do I get the V6 to work in TTL with this Fuji kit?

I have no idea why the firmware update isn't working. Have you started the updater before you connect the V6? Perhaps Cactus can help you with this one.
  • Regarding the TTL pass-through, I'm sorry that I wrote earlier that it isn't supported for Fuji. It is, I erroneously mixed pass-through support with remote power control report.

So, it should work and you may just need to wiggle the V6 in the hot-shoe a bit to find a better position.

It could be your X-T1 hot shoe is not lining up with the V6 so you are having problem with TTL Pass Through. There were a few users whose X-T1 experienced the same problem.

You may refer to this thread:

To fix this problem we will need to replace the bottom hot shoe mount on the V6. But you can first make sure the V6 is inserted fully on your camera's hot shoe.

    Thank you!
