cactus v5 high speed sync

I have nikon D800E and D810, connected with nikon sb-700, sb-900 and 910.

I can't make them to sync 1/1000, as written in the manual.

Is there a way to connect them to high speed?

The Nikon D800E / D810 spec says:

X = 1/250 s; synchronizes with shutter at 1/320s or slower (flash range drops at speeds between 1/250 and 1/320 s)

The V5 indeed support up to 1/1000s but the cameras don't - a phyiscal limitation. I believe there's only one Nikon camera that can do 1/1000s, it's the rather dated D70s, made possible by its electronic shutter.

Antonio you are right even the Nikon D70 can do it. But the trigger V5 can not. With the flash on the camera without trouble. Consequently Cactus official specification lies on this point. I quote: "Support sync speed: up to 1/1000 second (subject to camera’s sync speed limitation)" in : http://www.cactus-image.com/v5.html

What do you mean by saying the V5 cannot? At what shutter speed were you able to shoot without banding issues (black strip across the image)?  Are you using the Nikon D70?

Yes I do use Nikon D70 with Flash up to 1/1000s without banding issues. I put the flash SB800 onto the hot shoe and no problem. But when I tried with the V5 I could not get the same result the flash failed. Is it clear now?

Hi @lumitorma, thanks for the clarifications.

I just checked again, the D70/D70s has a x-sync speed of 1/500s, so you should be able to shoot at 1/500s.

Though I do remember reading 1/1000s on the D70s previously... anyway, 1/500s still gives you more room to play with when compared to the typical 1/180s ~ 1/250s.

That's normal. The listed 1/320s only applies when using a directly mounted on-camera Nikon flash.

In other words, 1/320s is really marginal, or you could say, just right. Not the case when you use third party products.
