Are the new Cactus V6 and Cactus RF60 compatible with the Sony’s Multi-Interface Shoe?

Cactus V6 and RF60 is compatible with Sony's new hot shoe (Multi-Interface Shoe) on their new camera such as Sony A7. That means you can mount a V6 on an A7 and remote power control and trigger a Nikon, Canon or Pentax's system flashes.

The V6 cannot remote power control a Sony flash, or one that runs on Sony’s ADI / TTL system. This is not possible due to the off-centre placement of the hot shoe contact pin on the Sony flash with Multi-Interface Shoe.

You will be able to trigger Sony / Minolta flash models manually by using the FS-1100 shoe adapter.

  • I have Minolta FS-1200 and Yongnuo yh-h3. They allow to install Cactus V6 on my Sony A77 and using contacts of Cactus V6 for flashes. But no support from Cactus V6. Why???
Please, add support in next firmwares.
  • The Cactus V6 should work on your Sony A77, or any cameras with a Sony / Minolta female hot shoe and using a hot shoe adapter you mentioned.

Here's a demo video showing a similar setup using an Alpha 580, with V6 mounted set to TX Mode, triggering a Cactus RF60.

Please let us know if you experiences problem still on your A77 + V6 + RF60 setup. Thank you!

  • Central contact works fine. But need to involve other contacts too. Physically, this is possible with the help of adapters, which I cited above. Problem is only for the software.
  • Just to confirm with the OP.
Would ANY Cactus V6 (for Nikon, Canon, Pentax) work on the Sony A7 series (a7, a7s, a7r)?
Does the RF60 do TTL when on camera of an A7 series camera?

    Cheers
  • and which Sony multi-interface shoe do I require for it to work, as there are a couple options.

It is not possible because the RF60 is manual wireless flash. The RF60 only use the center pin to trigger flash. No TTL signal transmit between the camera or vice versa.

The V6 is not dedicated, there is only one version for all systems.

As was said before, you can use it on a Sony camera that has an ISO compatible hot-shoe.
  • Thanks for the replies.  I was just worried that the V6 won't fit onto the Sony A7 (series) hotshoe, like everything I have tried (Phottix, Canon etc).  Don't want to splash out on 4 units of V6 to find I can't get it to work on the A7r/s.  Cheers
