  • Thanks for your message @Orangish

It's not possible due to hardware limitation. However we the next release will likely to support Nikon version of the MItros so stay tuned!

@Antonio Thank you for the info. Is there any timeframe on the V7's release? I'm making some budgeting and equipment decisions and this is actually a fairly significant factor in my considerations.
  • The version that would solve your original inquiry is not the V7 and that should be available before the end of the year.

  • @antonio Woot! Thank you!
  • Just bought a couple of V6s and found out that they won't work with my Mitros for Nikon. Quite unhappy about that. Is "the version" a software update for the V6, or there is going to be some other hardware?

    Wondering the same thing myself.
  • it's a hardware thing, unfortunately.

@krachunov I am sorry to hear about your misunderstanding. Compatibility list is clearly stated on the product page and does not include the Nikon version.

  • @Antonio, if I assign it the profile for SB-600 it is working. Powering up and down without a problem. I can't measure if the full power is actually 100%, but at least I can get it to work.
    Any thoughts?
  • @krachunov, cool it works!  Despite our test failed previously. We haven't tried using the SB-600 profile specifically when testing the Mitros unit.

Our Phottix Mitros Nikon version is currently not in the studio. Once we have it back we will try it out.

Even if you don't have a light meter you could test out the power at different levels and compare the V6 setup to on-camera Manual flash. Just set the camera in M mode.  By that you can observe if the power curve has a gradual change by looking at the amount of light in the picture.

Thanks and please keep us posted!

  • Hey all, I have just tested the Mitros Nikon version with the R&D team using two V6 transceivers, one TX and RX and a non-Nikon camera set to M mode. We did not measure the output with a light meter but only looked at the images on the camera LCD.

We used the SB-600 profile as well as SB-700, and the same problem exhibits - after firing at 1/2 or 1/1 full power, the flash was not willing to recycle, or at least the red LED ready light does not comes on UNLESS i full press the Test Button once (both TX and RX unit works in this case).  And after pressing the Test Button once, red LED comes back on, however taking a second shot in 1/1 the actual output was surely not full power.   But after that it would work again if we adjusted it to 1/128.  From 1/128 up to 1/4 it worked fine.

So long story short, the Mitros exhibits the familiar behaviors of a Digital-only TTL protocol flash, where it is constantly looking for full digital TTL information from the camera. So in the case of the V6, it does not transmit TTL wireless and therefore will not support , as observed above, the full power range consistently.  As a result, it's unfortuate we can't add this model to the compatibile list.

But I guess you could squeeze by the MItros unit by using Nikon profiles while taking the above mentioned precautions. For full support, and as I mentioned in previous posts, the next version of the V6 will support this MItros unit, along other digit-TTL flash models.

Thank you all again for bearing with us in the meanwhile.

Any word on when this will be available? Will it be possible to update the half-dozen V6's I currently have?
  • It's not possible to update by firmware, it's a hardware thing unfortuantely.
