More flash profiles

Really appreciate the Olympus FL-50R and FL-36R profiles.  I could also use profiles for the FL-50 (most important) and FL-36.

And the Nikon SB-28 profile.  I could also use profiles for the SB-28DX and SB-80DX.  I use a lot of SB-80DX flashes for real estate, so it would be REALLY nice to have a canned profile (but these can be learned, so not as important to me as the FL-50.

  • Why would prefer a canned SB-28 profile over one that you created yourself?

Note that you can transmit profiles from one unit to another, so you only have to go through the profiling procedure -- that doesn't really take that long -- once.

From a certain firmware version upwards, self-created profiles survive firmware updates, so there seems to be very little difference between a canned and a self-created profile.
  • I would prefer a canned profile because then I don't have to create and manage one.  Main reason is that I use Mac computers and travel with a Mac laptop; I do have a PC and PC laptop at home but don't take one on the road.  But to manage profiles, I need a PC.  If I have an issue while traveling and need to hook the V6 to a computer, it will be difficult to solve.

But yes, I can otherwise manage the Nikons (along with my Quantums).

My number one request is profiles for the Olympus FL-50

The main difference between Olympus FL-50 and FL-50R is the wireless operation. The profile for the FL-50R should work as good as in FL-50.

We really like to bring the discontinuous flash model back to life and add wireless control with the V6. But due to the limited resources, the priority is given to the popular modals. Since we don't have Olympus FL-50 in hand, we cannot pre-load the profile in the V6.

What do you mean by "manage" profiles? Once you created a profile -- which takes only a few minutes -- it will always be stored in the V6. It will be accessible just like the canned profiles.

If you want to transfer the profile to other V6 units, you can do that via radio, without a computer.

In fact, you cannot use a computer to manage profiles.

BTW, if you are mainly using a Mac, did you notice that there is now a Firmware Updater version for Mac?

  • I have to apologize for my error.  When I tried an FL50, it did not work.  However, I just went back and tried again, and it works.  I don't know what I did wrong, but now it's working.

I have to say, this is a really amazing device.  Thanks.
  • Wonderful! I'm happy to hear that.
