TTL Olympus Om-D EM1 mark ii

Dear all, please help me. I do not understand.

i have a OM-D EM1 mark ii. a V6II, a RF60X and a RF60 (noX). All with the newest firmware.

when I place the V6II on the camera, it shows TTL next to every group in the screen. The RF60 seems to flash accordingly, but the RF60X seems to do not. there is a small flash, but it's so little, that it does not show up on the camera.

now, if I press the menu button for 2 sec on the v6II (to engage TTL according to the manual, it says TTL systems do not match. I did put the Olumpus version of the firmware on this V6II.. and if so, why is it showing TTL next to every group (ABCD)

test flashes work.

where am I wrong??

  • i have just found out. the RF60X does the test flash to see how much light is needed, but it does not release the actual flash. took a picture with the flashs in the frame and only the RF60 is lit in the picture.
  • manual everything works fine.... on both flashes. I reinstalled the firmware on the RF60X. no help....
  • What you did is trying to turn on the TTL pass through mode. It's not the same as remote TTL.

To use Olympus TTL, please make sure you have the V6 II firmware update with X-TTL, which the firmware version prefix is OLY.A.xxx .

The RF60X also need to have the firmware updated to A.08 or later.

    I hope that helps.

  • Thanks, but the RF60x has A08 as firmware. The RF60 has A07 and the V6ii has OLY.A.004. All the latest

So, all is working fine, except the TTL at the RF60X.

    Any ideas??

  • The RF60x doesn't have TTL when it works alone. It needs a help of V6 II with X-TTL firmware for remote TTL.

  • Dear Raychan. I know.

    Please read this:

What do you think. Why do i get a good flash on the picture from the RF60, but no flash from the RF60X. The RF60x is doing the ttl test flash, but not the actual flash that should show up on the picture.

Thanks for your time and concern.
  • @HarmenJan
In case the RF60X battery is running low, it may produces pre-flash only. That's what you saw the small flash. You may change with a fully charged battery and try again.

Another thing you can try is to reset the RF60X by pressing and hold the NEXT and "+" button while switching it to ON from OFF position.

    I hope that helps.

  • Hi, just new to Cactus. Have OMD 1-mkii, 3 V6ii. Have 1 Nikon SB700 (A) , Yongnuo YN560II (B). Have set up, and when I test using TX shutter all fire. Once I put tx on camera, set to Olympus M4/3 will not fire. Wonder what am I missing? Do I need a cable? If so which cable? RX set to Nikon SB 700 for A; For RX B set to Manual. Should multi flash is off? Would appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you. MSW

Once I put tx on camera, set to Olympus M4/3 will not fire.

To check whether the connection between the camera and TX is working, please use AUTO DETECT. Choose AUTO in the camera system. Half-press the camera while switching on the V6 II to the TX mode. Once detected, the LCD screen of the TX will show "O" inside the camera icon and you are good to go. If not, the hot shoe contact may not be secured enough to ensure the proper communication between the camera and the TX.

Once the connection is confirmed, the camera shutter should be able to trigger the SB700 and the YN560-II.
