Are Cactus still in business?

Nothing has been heard from Cactus since the demise of the RQ250 kick starter, no answers on forum posts, no changes in the news posts. Aurora Lighting have announced a 400TTL battery strobe with built in Cactus receiver. Does this mean the end of Cactus or Cactus products as we know them?
Really need to add more powerful battery units to work on location with my existing Cactus kit, but am starting to think of a total switch to Godox may be the way forward.

Don't worry. We are good in business. Since there is a public holday on Monday. The reply may be delayed.

Although the RQ250 is suspended, the Cactus moves on to our next project.

FYI, the V6 II X-TTL firmware has new updates. As always, we provide the best possible product and service to our customer.

  • Thanks for the reply Ray, that's good to know. Suspended implies delayed, or is the RQ250 actually cancelled if not when can we expect to see it ?
  • Thank you for your concern.

The RQ250 project is now on hold. I don't have further update at the moment.

  • Speaking of being in the business.
Any chance for CACTUS users to see some studio strobe, (like RQ250), but more power on hand. I.E, Godox has 600W/s with remote trigger for Pentax, (and, yes, I am Pentaxian), that is soon to be released. Since I jumped in CACTUS "train", I'd appreciate, (and truste me I am not allone, far from it), to see Cactus is developping something similar what could give us some hope in near future. Thank You.
Other than this, as I already said, You, guys, are doing really good job with all the effort. Thanks for it!
  • @branitelj91 Thank you for the encouragement. There is still many possibilities for the future product development.

Your support keeps us moving forward!

Ray, it is really nice to hear from You again. Similar question I have posted today in other discussion, but please disregard it, (or even delete it since I have answer here). I hardly can wait to see something like monolight.
  • @branitelj91 Don't worry about it. Cheers!

  • I have been impressed of the many good ideas Cactus had some time ago but today, at the end of 2018 I'm really getting the feeling that Cactus-Image is lagging seriously behind competitors like Godox and even getting in a kind of lethargy. I do hope there are still new products in the pipeline - halting the RQ250 product development doesn't bring in much more confidence and like many I'm even starting to think that my investment wasn't the right one. Are we wrong, Mr Chan? Is there still something we can expect from your company beyond the X-TTL intelligent trigger system and the quite basic RF60(X) strobe? I'm not wanting to sound harsh or even give the wrong impression - but today the audience of advanced users and creative professionals arereally expecting more than just another advanced trigger system, to be honest, even for wedding photography your system is getting a very partial solution.
  • @ChatNoir Thank you for your feedback. Our engineering team was busy completing the X-TTL and fixed all the bug. Because it's cross-brand TTL, it required enormous effect and time to complete the project. We are moving on to the next project, however, with limited manpower, the progress may take a bit more time.

  • Thanks, Mr. Chan. I'm really convinced there is a lot of value for photographers like me frequently using multiple brands - to own this kind of X-TTL solution, it has driven me to your product. However, a stronger, lightweight TTL-compatible bare-bulb concept with sufficient power and a good battery-concept would really be welcome - with the right design, also with respect to the available modifiers - and specs, it could give your product range wings. It's just a hint, once more ;-)
  • @ChatNoir Thank you for the positive feedback and good suggestions.

  • November 2018... Mr Chan... we, your clients who bought in your system are seriously starting to get worried, will there be 'a next project' ever? Since 2018, even your portal has barely been evolving/updated while competition - Godox - has been harsher than ever. Will we ever see a barebulb-solution from Cactus? A newer gen of transceivers or flashes? New add ons? The feeling is not good - not at all. Cactus seems to have come to a complete standstill. That's the impression we get on our side. And that's a pity, because this is a wonderful system, after all.
