V62 working with legacy flashes ??

Hi,
I have three V62's and four V61's. With the V61's I used to use a canon 580EX that I still can use on a V62(RX). Next I have a Canon 540EZ, a Nikon SB28 (no DX) and a SB80DX. The last three I can no longer use on a V62(RX) while they use analog TTL I read on your website.
1. Altough I thougt that the suffix DX on the SB80DX means digital TTL. That's my first question: am I right or wrong?
2. When I search through the settings of one of my V62's, I find under Camera Profile three profiles with a label starting with "user:" followed by 540EZ (in the Canon brand) and by SB80DX and SB28 (in the Nikon brand choises. I don't think I ever did an input in the V62 for those profiles. Don't even know how to do such a thing. But they are there. I did connect those three flashes to this V62 once or more. Are those profiles been added like that?
3. What is the meaning of those profiles being there as a choice while they are not compatible: no possibilitiy to control the power or zoom from another V62(TX) even in manual mode. I'm confused about that. In manual mode I use a V62 on camera, to trigger one or more V61's with those flashes on (no TTL or HSS). But it would be nicer to use them on V62's if possible (maybe with HSS and/or TTL) .

  • When you see a particular flash profile that means we have that model, tested it to work on that very transceiver, either V6 or V6 II. If they don't work, it would be better off not listing the flash model and use them as a manual flash.

For the Cactus V6 II, you can actually ignore the flash profile list (if you already bought the V6 II and found a TTL flash laying around in your basement). Just mount the flash on the V6 II, set the flash to TTL mode, and then switch V6 II to RX mode. If it works, it works.

  • Short answer to your question:

Analogue TTL (legacy, as you put it) flash models are NOT compatible on the V6 II. Only the V6 (MK1) is compatible with these flashes.

And if you see a particular flash model listed in the compatibility list on V6 II's website or in menu of V6 II (the flash profiles), it means they runs on digital TTL protocol.

    Thanks!
