V6II is not triggering V6

I can not manage to let a V6II control an older V6.
The firmware of V6 = ver 2.1.001
Firmware of the V6II = HSS.A.001 and also OLY.A.001
In both cases (HSS-multibrand, and Olympus TTL+HSS as the TX) it seems that the V6 is not receiving (or understanding) the radiosignal from the V6II, with or without a flash mounted on it. When modifying the powersettings or zoom on the V6II, the receiverlight on the V6 is not blinking. Pushing the testbutton on the V6II also has no effect. I tested other V6 with the same (no-) result.

Are there firmware incompatibilities in my configuration?
Or are there several settings on both sides (V6II-TX and V6-RX) that I have to control in order to let it work?
Please give me some suggestions to try out or the settings on both sides that I have to check.
I know that the performance of the V6 in such a configuration is restricted, but modifying flashpower and zoom should be still available in manual mode I thought.

Thanks for the support.

  • Indeed, there is!

V6 on 2.1.001 will not work with an:"A" firmware version.

Get the latest "A" version for V6, version V61.A.001.

    Thanks!

I use firmware updater ver. 3.07 and the latest firmware for the V6.1 that is posted there is ver. 2.1.001. Quid?
  • It used to be this:

    V6: 2.1.001
    V6 II: 1.1.013 / FUJ.1.001 / SIG.1.001 / SON.1.001

Now with the new "A" version:

    V6: V61.A.001
    V6 II: V62.A.001 / CAN.A.001 / FUJ.A.002 / NIK.A.001 / OLY.A.001 / etc.

We had a typo with the firmware name, it should be V62.A.001 and not HSS.A.001. Sorry about the confusion.

With the corresponding firmware the V6 can be triggered from the V6 II, however it won't support TTL nor HSS. You will need a V6 II to do that. The V6 is what it is; only the V6 II can be switched between HSS and X-TTL firmware versions. This is due to hardware limitation on the V6.

    Thank you!

That V61.A.001 version wasn't vissible as a choice for the old V6 in the firmware updater, until shortly after your last reply. I then loaded that version in the old V6's and now it works perfectly.
I know the restrictions of the V6, but now I can change the attached flashes their power and zoom and it works from a V6II with Oly-A.001, and with Can.A.001, and with HSS.A.001. I tried them all 3.

  • Fantastic news.
