Nikon HSS D4 - V6ii - RF60x

Problem:
In photos above sync speed and lower flash power (1/32) a over exposed part appears in the bottom 10th of the frame.

I am missing something, can this be solved?

    Hi Martin,

    If the D4 behaves similar to many other Nikon DSLR models, check on the camera menu, under the flash sync speed section, set the speed from 1/320s to 1/250s as the x-sync speed.

    Hi Antonio,

    Thanks for the fast reply.

    Camera is on flash sync speed of 1/250 (auto FP) as the x-sync speed.

    I still get a small exposed band at the bottom of the frame about 1/10 of the total shooting at 1:2000 F2.8 and the flash on manual 1/8 power.

    If possible I can send you the photo taken to clarify the problem.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I am sorry to let you know there is nothing we can do in terms of firmware in addressing this issue.

    The D4 appears to be another Nikon model that will exhibit this light banding. We have a D600 which has the same issue when shooting HSS.

    FYI this will be an issue only when V6 II is triggering the RF60/RF60X and we will include this information in the compatibility notes.

    Hello @Antonio,
    I'm using a Nikon D700 with the V6II (V62.A.001 HSS firmware) and a RF60 flash(A06 firmware) and I'm seeing the same light band at the 'bottom' of the picture as described by @MartinPi. At high shutter speeds and low flash power (lower than 1/8th).
    Is there anything I can do to resolve this? I've also tried the NIK.A.003 firmware.

    Also, you say that "this will be an issue only when V6 II is triggering the RF60/RF60X [...]"
    So if the V6II is triggering a Nikon SB-600 or SB-800 for example, this banding does not occur?

    There are new X-TTL firmware for V6 II and RF60X available to download.

    It improves the synchronization, especially at extremely high shutter speed. Perhaps, you can give it a try.

    The latest Nikon X-TTL firmware is NIK.A.004 now.

    I've updated the firmware to the latest version (Nik.A.004 for V6II and A07 for RF60).
    Results with my D700 (set to FP 1/250s) with V6II and RF60:
    flash power 1/8, shutter speed 1/1000 : no light band !
    flash power 1/4, shutter speed 1/2000 : no light band !
    flash power 1/2, shutter speed 1/4000 : no light band !
    However, at lower flash power settings with the same shutter speeds (or higher shutter speeds with same flash power) there is the light band visible. For example at 1/4 flash power and 1/4000 second.

    I hope this gives some more data for your team to work out how to solve the light band issue!

    Can you check whether the battery is fully charged? I have the same gears to test, but I didn't find the same result as your reported.

    Hi @raychan,
    I recharged all the batteries of every device, still the same light band.
    I've also tried this with a Nikon SB-600 on a V6II receiver (which was using the firmware X-TTL for Fujifilm FUJ.A.003) and the same Nikon D700 and V6II TX as listed above, and all the speeds (up to and inclusing 1/8000 s) do not show any light band. It works fine.

    I also checked the D700 firmware just to be sure, and it is up to date too.

    @BNB It seems to be the hardware limitation of the RF60 regarding the light band. I'm afraid it cannot be fixed through firmware update.
