Help to chose the right firmware update

I own a sony alpha 7 camera and canon speedlites.
Recently I aquired a pair of V6II devices. One for Sony to install on my Sony camera and the standar one for my Canon off camera speedlite.
First thing I tried was to install the latest firmware for each transceiver. I run the installer and the operation seemed to be successful but, at the end, I got the windows message " unknown usb device". And the transceivers did'n comunicate.
So I tried other instances of the firmware and ended up with the following;
V6IIs: SON.1.001 and
V8II: 1.1.012.
First question: are these firmware versions the right ones for me?
I made some shots and seemed to me that TTL was working but sometimes with overexposed pictures.
Second question: are these configurations right?
On the transmitter:
FLASH SYSTEM = SONY
FLASH PROFILE = AUTO SONY
On the receiver:
FLASH SYSTEM = CANON
FLASH PROFILE = AUTO CANON
I have two Canon Flashes. One is the 430 X and the other is the Canon 580 EX. At the moment I only used the 430. And on the V6 II I used AUTO CANON for Flash Profile.
I know that on the Flash Profile, I could have chosen 430 X. But the name available on the V6II flash profiles is Canon 430 EX*. And I read somewhere that the * means that the flash should be used with a hot shoe adaptor. And the same thing for the speedlite 580 EX. But this seems to be wrong.
So what would be the right setup for me, with my sony alpha 7 camera and a Canon 430 x speedlite.
Thanks for reading. I am waiting your advice.

Comments

  • First off, the asterisk ( * ) beside the flash profile name means it is for Mark I Mark II, Mark III.

    430EX* = 430EX, 430EXII

This is what you should install on your V6 II and V6 IIs:

    V6 IIs (TX): SON.A.001
V6 II (RX): SIG.A.001 or FUJ.A.001 or future X-TTL firmware versions

The version you mentioned also works, but the latest versions which now runs on the "A" wireless protocol is our latest version which fixes various bugs since the last version.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
