@nigsmi Hi, Yes, absolutely you can use the V6IIS with a Sony Camera to control one or many V6II with most brand flashes. Please be sure all units are on the same channel, the remote flash group is active on the transmiter and radio ID is same on all units. At this time your V6IIS must be using the SON.0.2 Firmware and your V6II the 1.0.13 firmware version. Also, try to use the Short Range working mode. The Long Range is better if you are really far away from your remote flashes (maybe 20 meters or more) or your flashes are behind brick or metal walls. Happy holidays!
Many thanks for your advice but I've checked everything and I still can't get the remote flash to fire at all. As I also want my V6II transceiver to have X-TTL compatibility with my Olympus camera this has the latest OLY.A 001 firmware. Is it essential to "downgrade" this to 1.0.13 to obtain compatability with the V6IIs?
So besides Sony cameras, you also have an Olympus camera?
You may install OLY.A.001 on all your V6 II units. And yes you can re-install firmware versions on your V6 II / V6 IIs anytime.
Just remember to match up the firmware versions. For example:
SON.1.002 > triggers > 1.1.013
or
SON.A.001 > triggers > OLY.A.001
Since you also shoot on an Olympus camera, you are better off using all the "A" firmware versions.
Check the basic setup procedures listed on the Quick Start Guide.
Thanks!

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately the firmware updater doesn't list SON.A.001 as an available option when I connect my VIIs - see attached screenshot. I've tried SON.1.001 as an alternative but that doesn't provide compatibility with OLY.A.001. How do I install the correct Sony firmware?

Yes, that is correct because the A version has not been released yet!
That's why I told you match up the firmware versions in my previous reply.
Cheers!

transceivers: Cactus V6 II (for the Nikon camera & flashes) & V6II-S (on the Sony camera)
when updating the firmware on the transceivers, which firmware to update the transceivers to? should I update to latest firmware specific to the brand of camera or flash I am using the transceiver with?
I would like to be able to put the sony transceiver on the sony camera on Tx, another transceiver on the nikon camera on Tx and the other transceivers attached to the nikon flashes on Rx and control/fire the flashes from either camera. Is this possible? what setup I need to do on the transceiver for this to work?
Here's what you should install on your transceivers:
V6 IIs: SON.1.002
V6 II: FUJ.1.002 or SIG.1.001
Thank you.
