Camera Shutter Release Not Working

Trying to use shutter release on Olympus E-M1ii with a V6ii TX and RX, Firmware OLY.A.001, Cable SC-C1. Have set up a per Quick Start Guide but the RX will not fire the shutter. The RX blinks orange when I half press the TX and green when I fully press the TX. The port on the camera is good as I can use my remote shutter release and it works as it should. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Dale,

Just to make sure, are you trying to use the V6 II as a remote shutter release?

If so, is this how you have connected your devices?

    1. V6 II (TX):  held in your hand, channel 12, Group A on
    2. V6 II (RX): connected to camera via shutter release cable to your E-M1 Mark II's shutter release port, channel 12, Group A
    3. When you half press and hold the Test button on V6 II (TX), LED lights up in steady orange on both TX and RX units
    4. When you full press the Test button once, LED blinks green once on both TX and RX

Tips:  aim the camera lens at an easy-to-focus object in case the AF goes hunting and unable to lock on the focus. For testing purposes, you can set to MF and see single out any focusing issue.

    Thanks and keep us posted.

  • Thanks for getting back to me right away. Yes you are correct and I have it set up like you listed above except I was on Channel 1. Tried Channel 12 but no shutter release. Both the orange and green lights light up like in steps 3 and 4. I'm suspecting a faulty cable maybe?
  • You could connect just the TX unit held in your hand, shutter cable from V6 II's 3.5mm port to camera shutter release port, and see if you can release camera shutter directly.

And did you also try MF?

    Thanks!

  • Yes I tried manual focus and just tried with the TX directly to camera release port directly and nothing.

If both transceivers behave the same then it's likely the cable that's defective.

    Cheers!

    Thanks!

  • Did you purchased your shutter cables from the Cactus Store? If so, what's your Order reference number?

Ask them for a replacement, it shouldn't be a problem I reckon.  Keep us posted.

    Thank you.

  • Hi all,

when I try to use shutter release + flashlight with the V6 II after all the Relay Instructions, it work once and then the Connection to the RX on the camera broken. In works again when I start the RX again. With the older V6 it works fine. I need help.

    Best wishes

  • We suspect that the firmware cannot handle the communication requested by the camera right at the moment when it goes back to the RX mode. The V6 II may get struck in the TX mode and do not receive further signal from the handheld TX.

In this case, you may either try using the multi-brand firmware V62.A.001.

Also please check if you have activated the DELAY mode or the burst mode of your camera. If yes, please turn them off and try again.
