Fuji X-Pro2 & V6II TTL

Apologies in advance if this has been covered - but after much searching I can't find anything to answer my question.

I am running FW 3.12 on my X-pro2 and FW FUJ 1.002 on the V6II trigger.
I can't get TTL to operate - seeing a message that says TTL systems are incompatible.

Can any one help me ...?

Thanks in advance.

  • When you see that message it means that you tried turning on <TTL PASS THROUGH>.

This function can be applied when you have an on-camera flash.

When this message appears, it means either:

    A) you do not have an on-camera flash mounted on V6 II's top hot shoe, or

    B) the flash does not run on a compatible TTL system.

Now, what flash are you using? And is the flash mounted on a second V6 II unit set to RX mode?

FYI, setting a certain group to TTL is by using the Group Buttons.

You can view the Quick Start Guide for FUJIFILM X-TTL here:

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi Antonio,
    Thanks for responding.

How do I turn off the TTL pass through function you mention?
I don't remember ever turning it on.

I am using the V6ii in TX mode on camera.
I'm triggering the RF60X which os off-camera and does not have another V6ii connected.
I thought that the RF60X and V6ii could provide TTL in off-camera configuration.
    Am I incorrect?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

You may refer to the Quick Start Guide for Fujifilm X-TTL:

If you have TTL turned on for the On-camera flash, you will see a TTL icon on bottom left of screen.

You can also toggle TTL / M in the menu.

See the attached screen shots for your easy reference.

Actually for V6 II running on X-TTL firmware, it's no longer a TTL "pass through" per se, it should be regarded as switching to TTL mode. With the X-TTL firmware (X = cross-brand), you can't really pass TTL signals between different systems.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Antonio, Thanks.
I'm really sorry if I am missing something obvious, but I am using the V6ii and RF60X off-camera.
I was hoping that the TTL functionality would work correctly  using only radio to trigger the flash.
Can you confirm how I can do that, or indeed if its even possible ?!?!?

Your press and website regarding x-TTL made me think it was.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Jason,

Look under "Setting Group and Flash Mode".

It's the section just above where I highlighted in one of the attachments.

The default flash mode is TTL

    1. Press a group button (e.g. Group A) once, the flash mode switches from TTL to M
    2. Press a group button (e.g. Group A) again, the flash mode switches from M to off.
    3. Press a group button (e.g. Group A) the third time, the flash mode switches from off to TTL.

"TTL Pass Through" is only for on-camera flash. If you do not have an on-camera TTL flash mounted, do not press and hold V6 II's menu button for 2 seconds.

Off-camera TTL works right out of the box, especially when you are using a Cactus RF60 / RF60X. Just make sure you have the correct firmware versions.  Currently:

    1. V6 II :  FUJ.1.002
    2. RF60X: 103

    Cheers!

  • Hi Antonio. Thanks for your response and apologies it has been a while since you responded.
I have re-flashed the firmware - I thought I was all up to date but I was not - DOH!
Hopefully I can run some trials tomorrow and get everything working as expected.
    Thanks again.
