Sony A9 - Cactus V6 IIs - Godox strobe sytsem

 I just bought a Cactus V6 IIs
I thought I would see various Flash setup on the Cactus V6 IIs.  Instead I only see Sony or Manual.
I remember someone using the Cactus V6 II on the Fuji; it has the feature to select the Flash as Canon, Nikon etc..
and apparently if setting it to Nikon as the destination flash unit, it can control various Godox strobes.

so, on the Cactus V6 IIs... what is the purpose?   seems to be very limited and can only be use Sony Flash system.. which I am not interested.

I assume I can buy 2nd Cactus V6 II transceivers.. and hot wire
it via the sync core.. but that to me seems very primitive...
and why would it have the different Flash options on the Cactus V6 II and not on the V6 IIs is beyond me.

The different Godox I have are:
1.)  AD6000BM
2.)  AD-360
3.)  AD-200

Please provide suggestion of even i am on the right track.

thanks

  • Hi and welcome.

Cactus V6 IIs for Sony - what is the purpose:
    1. Cross-brand HSS triggering Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and Sony TTL system flashes all at the same time. (non-Sony flashes requires Cactus V6 II) from a Sony camera.
    2. Cross-brand TTL triggering Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and Sony TTL system flashes all at the same time. (non-Sony flashes requires Cactus V6 II) from a Sony camera.
    3. Above two functions apply to off-camera flash setup.
    4. On-camera automatic TTL exposure with a compatible flash with Sony MI shoe.
    5. Remote power output control of Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and Sony TTL system flashes all at the same time. (non-Sony flashes requires Cactus V6 II) from a Sony camera.
    6. Remote zoom level control of Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma and Sony TTL system flashes all at the same time. (non-Sony flashes requires Cactus V6 II) from a Sony camera.
For your existing Godox gear, you may connect a V6 IIs transceiver to each of the device, however wireless power and zoom control, as well as TTL is not supported.

Wireless HSS may be supported, depending on the flash unit itself - if it has HSS native - a button for you to turn on manually.

To retain remote control ability, simply keep your Godox transmitter in your pocket or on a neck lace, and you are set.

For your non-Sony TTL system flashes, get the Cactus V6 II.  It will automatically detects the flash system and apply an AUTO flash profile.

Be sure to install the latest firmware versions.

I hope this paints a clearer picture of how the V6 II can integrate with your gear.  Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
