Display question

Hello,

I have a V6II and Sony HVL-F58AM which I am just setting up.

When I adjust the power level on the TX unit I can see the RX unit display change accordingly, but the display on my flash does not change. Is this correct? Thanks.

  • Yes, that is correct. You are not going to see any changes on the flash but the Cactus V6IIS (RX) unit is telling the parameters to operate, those that you are setting on the TX unit.
Are you using the Cross-brand FIrmware or the new X-TTL Firmware for SONY?
  • Yup, normal as lansa301 said above.

Since the flash is in TTL mode, required for communication with the V6 II, won't show the user the power changes when you mount the flash directly on camera hot shoe - on most flashes anyway.

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "NIK.A.001", "v.103", or "A06".

TTL or HSS not working on Cactus V6 II and V6 IIs? Be sure to check hot shoe connectivity by doing the <CAMERA INFO> check.

  • Thanks Antonio and lansa301.

I'm not mounting the flash on the hot shoe. I'm mounting a V6IIs on the hot shoe and communicating with another V6IIs on which my Sony flash is mounted and is across the room. Is your answer still the same? Thanks again.

  • Yes, the answer remains the same: You won't see changes on the flash's display directly. However, the flash should fire at different output levels, depending on what power level you set on the V6IIs which sits on your camera's hot-shoe.
