Control issues with my RF60

I have a v6II, 2 RF60x and I just bought 2 new RF60.  I can get the V6ii and RF60X to work reliably.  One flash is set to group A (let's call this Flash A) and one flash to group B (Flash B).  I can control output of Flash A and B independently.  When I turn Group A off or on the V6II, Flash A will be either on or off as set on the v6ii.  When turn on Group B on or off on the V6ii, Flash B does the same.  Those two flashes seem to work exactly as they should for as long as I use them.

Here's where I can't figure it out.  The two new flashes are RF60 model.  They are set up as Flash C and Flash D and I have (tried) setting each to a separate group on the V6ii (flash C to Group C and Flash D to group D).  For a while these flashes will work as expected.  Turn their channels off in the V6ii, and the flashes turn off.  However, after some use and selecting and deselecting different groups from the v6ii, both Flash C and D will flash when ANY group is selected.  It is as if the flashes are no longer under the control of the v6ii and they are operating like a slave for any channel.  mm and power settings from v6ii do not work on Flash C and D.  They cannot be turned off with the V6ii.  They flash when any group (ABC or D) is selected, but will not fire if all groups are off.

Can anybody help me with what I am missing regarding the setup?

Equipment:
V6ii (set to tx)
Flash A=RF60X
Flash B=RF60x
Flash C=RF60
Flash D=RF60
All flashes are set to the same channel as the V6ii

  • Please check the firmware version that is running on the RF60.

it needs to be version 2.04 or later in order to work with the V6 II.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for the quick response Antonio.  I thought I updated the firmware yesterday but I didn't realize that the Cactus Updater doesn't automatically select the latest firmware, so I didn't have the latest firmware installed until this evening.  I'll check it out again tomorrow and report back my results.

  • Ah yes, you gotta click the smaller button, "Check for Latest Firmware" before going with the Update.

    Keep us posted. Thank you!
