Elinchrom HD 500 with Canon 5D mark III

On the bottom of the image there is a brighter strap. Tried to synchronise on power sync-not helping. Longest flash duration I can get is 1/2700. Tested with cheap head (300W)-same problem. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

That strobe is designed for very short flash durations.

Elinchrom's own marketing suggests the highest sync speed you can expect with the EL-Skyport is 1/320s, so the V6 II isn't going to allow you to go higher than the flash duration of the strobe permits.

Since you mentioned the longest flash duration I suppose your ELC Pro HD 500 does not have built-in HSS?

1/2700s is way too short for the V6 II, which needs to be 1/100s or longer.  Otherwise it won't sync properly.

Well in our studio we have a Jinbei HD600 and it has flash duration over 1/100s. But then you will loose remote power controls... in case that's important too.

If you want need remote control and don't mind paying more, you could get the Profoto B1, get one of their TTL Air Remotes, you can switch on Hi Speed mode on it but you don't need to connect the Air Remote - just strap it to a neck lace and you can control power from it, whilst V6 II does the flash triggering - TX on camera and RX to B1 via sync cord.
