Bolt Flash compatibility
I recently purchased a Bolt VB 22 flash. I don't expect to control the settings from my Sony Cactus units but do I need a non-Sony Cactus to fire it as a slave unit or can I use a Sony Multi adaptor on my V6 IIS instead?

However I believe there are also Canon / Nikon version of the VB 22? If you have one of those, then you will need the multi-system V6 II and you will be able to remote control it.

You need to ask Bolt if you get an adapter does it turn the VB22 into a TTL flash for either Canon or Nikon? Because if ithe flash stays as being a manual flash, getting a hot shoe adapter would only allow you to mount it onto a V6 II, but it would only support x-sync speed and not HSS.
Keep us posted on your findings.

The threaded base plate on the Bolt is removable with four screws and I received another plate in the box that has a hot shoe, which I can substitute for the threaded base plate.
I don't need HSS, x-sync is fine. I just want to know if I have to buy the Sony adaptor to use as an bridge between the (non Sony) shoe on the Bolt and my V6IIs Cactus unit?
In the end, I just want to fire the Bolt remotely from my camera, using the Cactus units as transmitter and receiver.on each end. Thanks.
Here's an updated thought.
Can I just buy a regular V6II unit to act as a receiver on the Bolt and fire it from the V6IIs transmitter on my Camera?
If that's the case then the V6 II (set to RX) can be triggered by a V6 IIs mounted on your Sony camera.
However, using a manual (centre pin only) flash or strobe on the V6 II, you are really missing out on the ability of remote power and zoom control.
On the other hand if the VB 22 had a Sony hot shoe option then you will need another V6 IIs.
If in doubt post the photo of the optional hot shoe attachment.
Thanks!
