Average battery life?

Curious how long batteries last on average. Wanting to use for finish line triggering at track and cross country meets.
Normal vs rechargeables? Thanks!

    The laser will be the limiting component with 40h (2 x AAA) or 80h (4 x AAA) runtime. These are figures from Cactus for 1000mAh Alkaline batteries. You can find more battery life figures in my LV5 review.

    Battery life should be a bit lower for rechargeables as they don't quite have the same capacity as Alkalines; at least they did not at the time I was writing my test.
