shoe weakness

The bottom shoe keeps snapping off all of my V5's.
No extreme stress, just an ex430 on a stand. All I need to do is lower the stand and "POP" off it comes.
I have become fairly good at putting it all back together in a rush , but only one of them has the little ball in it still so it is my only TX unit left.

Thankfully after my flash hit the ground the first time I have velcroed them to the stands so when the V5 decides to let go it doesn't destroy the flash

Anyone have any suggestions?

cheers

  • Hello @keef,

I am sorry to hear about this.

Could you tell me more about your V5, like -
    When did you purchased them?
How long have you been using it?
Is there a serial number on it?

Any additional information, including images of the bottom hot shoe, would be very much appreciated so we can look into the issue further.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Antonio,
    Thanks for the response.

I purchased them on two separate occasions about a year apart.
The first duo in early 2015 and the second last spring. (though I can't trust my memory...the years seem to be speeding up!) I would have to bug my accountant to get my hands on the receipts to get specific dates.

I have only used them 10 times +/- and have been happy with them other than the shoe issue.

Purchased from McBain Camera in Edmonton Canda.

Odd there isn't any serial on the units. I turfed the box for the first set, but the box for the second set has no obvious serial number. There is a barcode printed on your label: 4897035130033

Thanks for your interest and any assistance you can offer.
  • In the end, I got some locktite and made em solid.
  • Thanks for the update @keef.

Just shout if you need further assistance we are happy to help.

    Cheers.
