RF60 FW clarification

Hi

I have acquired a RF60 to use with my V6 transcievers. In the download area it is stated that "For use with Cactus V6, use firmware version 142 and earlier".
My RF60 came with FW 202, which seems to work fine. I updated to FW 204 and haven't seen any issues... is there any reason NOT to use the latest SW when using V6 and RF60 together?

If there is, you should create a separate FW branch for the RF60/V6II combination, but I do believe this is a last resort... try to keep backwards compatibility with all FW releases; or you will be signalling messy SW development ;-)

  • To use RF60 with V6 (original version), you need to update their firmware to the latest version, which is V2.04 for RF60 and V2.1.001 for V6.

The firmware updater can be found in the following download page,

    I hope that helps.

  • Hi Raychan,

I've been using RF60 v.142 and V6 v.1.1.019 for many years without any troubles. At one time, I played with some newer versions of the firmwares but finally decided to stick with the firmware versions listed above. It's time consuming and can be frustrated. I've just bought (2) RF60 and would like to upgrade their existing v.124 to my preferred v.142. The new firmware updater doesn't allow me to get the older firmwares (meaning v.142 doesn't show on the list). How do I get the old firmware updater? Please help.

    Regards,

    Ngoc Tran
  • @ngoctran We have uploaded the V.142 at your request. The updater is now able to show the older firmware of RF60.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Ray Chan,

Thanks so much for helping loyal Cactus customers. While waiting for your response, I've tried V. 205 for RF60 and V. 2.1.001 for V6 (I use Fuji X-E2 and Nikon D600 cameras) and except two misfires (RF60 fired randomly by itself without receiving any signals), they seems to be rather stable firmware releases. To be safe, I'll switch all my RF60s and V6s to my preferred firmwares. Would you also help us to have the new Updater show the legacy V.1.1.019 for V6? Those two firmwares (V. 142 for RF60 and V. 1.1.019 for V6) interact flawlessly, as I said, after using them for many years without any troubles. I think you know why: I care less for HSS and TTL. When I really need to go HSS, I'll switch my system to V6II and RF60X. Thanks for your help.

    Warm regards,

    Ngoc Tran

  • No problem. We have re-loaded the V1.1.019 in the server.

    Cheers!
