Use V6 II (TX) wih V6 IIs (RX) with studio strobe flash?

edited October 2016 in V6 II FAQ

Hi

Is it possible to use the V6 II in TX mode with the
V6 IIs in RX mode to trigger a studio flash by PC sync port? Does this also
work for HSS mode?

I’m just asking this question because I use a Sony
a6000 and a Pentax K-1. This is just to make sure, I can use both cameras in
either way using the K-1 with V6 II (TX) and the V6 IIs (RX) and vice versa.

Thanks and best regards.

  • Tricky question.
The V6II (as transmitter) is not intended to control the V6IIS (as receivers) with SONY flashes.
But the PC sync cable is a different scenario.
My first guess is that could be possible. On the way that you only need the "Fire" signal and nothing else.
Ray or Antonio will have a better answer.
I suppose that the HSS could work if the flash duration is enough, like with any other Studio strobe/Monolight.
  • That's correct. Using V6IIs as receiver for strobe using PC sync is able to use HSS with V6II as transmitter.

The V6II is not intended to control V6IIS, most like is because of the Sony flash. Strobe doesn't has such limitation as long as their flash duration is long enough for HSS.

    Cheers!

  • What adaptor would I need to connect the V6II to a PC port?

You don't need an adapter as the V6 II has an on-board 3.5mm port.

You simple need a sync cable like this one here:

  • Hi guys,
    Since I am using a PentaxK3 and recently purchased a GodoxAd600.
So in order to use max sync speed and HSS, all I need to do is:
    1) Place a V6II on my pentax DSLR and put it in Transmitter mode
    2) Sync cable the AD600 to the other V6II and subject it to receiver

By doing this I can achieve max Syn speed and HSS?

    Right on.

Just use the AD600 as a regular strobe and trigger it via a sync cord.

AD600's flash duration is long enough, longer than 1/100s at t0.1 so it will sync in HSS.
