Off-Camera RF60 HSS with V6II

I'm trying to use the RF60 high speed sync capability off-camera with a V6II transceiver.  All firmware is up to date.

When off-camera, the RF60 needs to be in Slave mode, but when it's in Slave, it won't switch to HSS with the Multi/HSS button (just goes between Multi and my group alias).  How do I make this work?

I'm shooting with a Nikon D300.  V6II is set to Camera System: Auto (Nikon), Flash System: Auto, and Sync Mode: Normal HSS.

Thanks.

  • Hello,

Please make sure the camera is mechanical shutter, Using electrical shutter or liveview is not suitable for FP / HSS.

In addition, it looks like the D300 has to enable to FP first. I found the instruction from Google,

"The Nikon D300s and Nikon D700 have a custom setting to enable high-speed flash sync – custom fucntion e1. "

    I hope that helps.

    Cheers!

  • You don't need to set HSS mode manually. The RF60 is set to "Auto HSS" per default, hence you cannot even select HSS mode manually.
  • It's working now, although I'm not completely sure what fixed it--thanks.
