Pentax K3 HSS problems, Shutter speed changes in manual mode

So i just received my Godox AD600bm, X1t trigger and cactus v6ii today. YAY!

However, after spending 2 hours to make camera fire at 1/200 and beyond and managing to dodge Bulb mode is Activated message, i got this weird problem:
My shutter speed erratically moves up and down at top lcd and camera fires maybe 3-5 times after i press the shutter. And in the end, exif says it was 1/180, not the shutter speed i was at.

I have the latest update as well. and my setup:

Pentax K3 - Cactus V6ii - X1t-f - Godox Ad600

  • Quick update. I have done something (not sure what) and it fires at any shutter speed. But Hss is not syncing and i have the black bars ( funny enough 1/200 and 1/8000 has same amount of banding and very severe)
  • Update:

After installing the oldest multi-brand firmware, setting the camera to the wireless controller, Cactus: Camera profile: Auto Pentax, Flash: Fuji auto.  I can the flash. But only in power sync mode and full power.

Is there a way to get normal hss working? not being able to change power is a bumer
  • Hello @gurcemzekai,

If you mainly need HSS, both firmware versions should work fine:

    Multi-brand HSS:  1.1.013
    X-TTL for Pentax: PEN.A.001

However, we do not recommend trigger-stacking as the V6 II was never designed to function this way. So it certainly may not work.

The correct setup would be getting another V6 II transceiver and hook it up to your AD600 via sync cord.  Have the V6 II auto-detect the AD600 as MANUAL FLASH, turn on HSS on the unit, power remotely controlled by the X1T-F transmitter holding in your palm - NOT connected to any Cactus flash triggers, and then... HSS should work.

Have fun and keep us posted.

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "NIK.A.001", "v.103", or "A06".

TTL or HSS not working on Cactus V6 II and V6 IIs? Be sure to check hot shoe connectivity by doing the <CAMERA INFO> check.
