I have just taken delivery of 2 RF60X's. One of them emits a smell of burning everytime i use it whilst the other one doesn't.
Is this indicative of a faulty flash or just a characteristic of some?
Thanks
Maybe? Or it could also be repeated high power output firing with the zoom range set to 24mm, where the fresnel lens gets heated quickly due to the close proximity of the flash tube to the lens.
Try starting fresh with the flash cool, set the zoom to 105mm, and fire a few shots. If there is burning smell then it's likely an internal component problem. Stop using the flash and return to the dealer for repair / replacement.
Thank you.

I've got the same issue with my newly received RF60x. I've done as Antonio has suggested and the smell isn't as bad at 105mm. Just wondered if @Jago999 did the same test and what the results were?
How about lletting the flash cool down for 15 minutes, or when you do a cold start, does setting the zoom 105mm at full power still give you the burnt smell?

Maybe avoid setting zoom to 24mm when using full power?
Or turn on the Cooling Mode.
Cheers!
